Visiting Sick Girl
By the time the entire process of waking up and showering was completed it was now 2pm. I gave Jeanine a call to see how she was doing and she said she was feeling worse and didn't think she was going to even get out of bed. She also said that her roommate was out of town and asked me if I could pick up some Dayquil and drop by. I said sure and grabbed a backpack.
As if my nerdy qualities aren't over powering enough I used to be a boy scout. I may not be able to tie a knot or make a fire without matches but the one thing that did stick was the boy scout motto, “"Be prepared." In less than five minutes I had my back pack filled with some sick girl essentials and was on my way. The backpack consisted of Nyquil, Dayquil, Some of Scott's DVD's, ("The Princess Bride", "The Dark Crystal", and "Amelie") a can of mushroom soup, a blanket, deck of cards, and pack of condoms. (I'm just being honest. After all if she suddenly got better and wanted to have sex I'd feel pretty foolish if I had left them at home.)
I have to admit when I saw how sick she was a part of me felt good because it meant that she wasn't blowing me off yesterday and she was actually sick rather than making up an excuse to get away from me. (Not that it happens often) I thought I'd be all suave and whip out the DVD's but when I did she pointed out that she doesn't own a DVD player. Great start Romeo. I hung out for about an hour and chatted with her before I left so she could sleep.
My one big concern is that I don't want to end up in the friend zone. A good friend once told me that if you don't kiss a girl in the first three dates you'll be in the friend zone for life. Depending on what constitutes a date I might have already fallen into the friend zone. At the same time I don't want to try to make out with the sick girl, not only due to my own phobia but because I'm sure that while she's laying on the couch with a head full of snot her number one thought isn't, "When is he going to put his tongue in my mouth." I'll play it by ear but I think this is the kind of stuff I always screw up with. Any advice is appreciated.
