Phone Stud
After waiting a respectable amount of time I called Jeanine today. The two hour conversation taught me a lot about the problem with my method of approaching women. I always do it in person. Our conversation has shown me that I work much better over the phone. I talk with great ease and confidence and always seem to find the right word. If I can find some way of exploiting that I'll be a stud in no time. Unfortunately unless I want to try to date a string of Pizza Hut operators I might have to refine my personal skills.
About two hours in to one of the most unique and interesting conversation I've ever had it happened. We were talking about our taste in music and right as she said she liked country music I gave a jokingly disapproving "What?" and my cordless phone suddenly, and without warning went dead. No beeping or fading out, it just went completely dead. Now at this point I'm thinking that either she'll realize my phone went dead or she'll assume I'm a music snob who can't even talk to a girl who listens to country music. Reacting quickly I changed my answering machine message to "Jeanine my phone went dead I didn't hang up on you, I'll call you back when I can." A minute later I got a call that went to the answering machine message. She laughed a little and realized what happened and gave me her e-mail address and we continued e-mailing back and forth for another hour or so. My only worry now is that my ease of conversation with her over the phone and in e-mail might not carry over that well to the next time I see her. I guess I'll find out on Saturday when we're going out.
